“Bella Would,” a film produced for 48 Film Project by a team of local filmmakers was awarded recognition as a Top 16 Official Selection Winner and will be screened at the 48 Film Project awards at the Directors Guild of America in Los Angeles, California on March 15, 2018. Vivid Bridge’s Creative Director, Christine York, was the film’s editor.

In this competition, professional and amateur filmmakers worldwide are given 48 hours to write, film, edit and submit a short 4-7 minute movie. At the start of the competition, filmmakers are given a genre, a line of dialogue, a prop, and a character that must be included in their submission.

Since its inception in 2008 by co-founder Francesco Vitali, more than 75,000 filmmakers from 130 countries have actively participated in the 48 Film Project festival. For the last five years, the films selected as finalists by well-respected Hollywood television and film executives, have been screened at the Directors Guild of America.

As a result of being chosen as one of 16 winners, the cast and crew of “Bella Would” are invited to the award show and red carpet event. All winning films will be screened and individual awards will be announced at the award show.

“Our local film community is working hard to build the production presence here in the Emerald Coast. Film competitions like 48 Film Project, local networking events, and workshops strengthen the vibrant community here, and encourage talent to remain in the area. The recognition of ‘Bella Would’ as an award-winning film is a victory for our team, and for the Florida Panhandle as well,” says Christine York, the film’s editor and a leader in the Emerald Coast Film Group.

Director Greg Vestal found his team of collaborators through the Emerald Coast Film Group, a Facebook community dedicated to the cinematic arts in the Gulf Coast. The film was shot in Fort Walton Beach in July 2017.
